THE IMPACT OF THE CORONAVIRUS ON THE ROLF FOOD PANTRY

In response to the unique situation of shelter-in-place mandates, we have implemented solutions such as drive through and home delivery service to provide food, while maintaining cleanliness and social distancing to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

We are now serving 6,000 households every month.

1. Supporting more bay area communities

We understand that recently, many are facing hardship at work or have had their hours cut, making it difficult to make ends meet. We are determined to continue providing services for both returning and new clients during this time. Now, in addition to low income families we are also serving food for those facing work hardships or who have lost their job.

2. Drive through food pickup

We have the drive through pickup procedures to implement social distancing for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our president believes this to be the best way to maintain the safety of the volunteers, staff and clients. Volunteers will be asking clients to stay in their car while we load groceries into your vehicle. We will still be accepting walk ups for those without vehicles.

3. Home delivery to the most vulnerable populations

Seniors and those with medical conditions are often the most vulnerable to food insecurity, even more so now with the unique challenges of government shelter in place orders. We are offering free delivery to these two groups and are seeking support from the community to help ramp up our home-delivery program for those unable to pick up groceries via our drive through program.

4. Focusing on safety

The health and safety of our volunteers, staff and clients is our top priority. We follow CDC guidelines regarding cleaning, sanitizing and social distancing to minimize the risk of virus transmission while we maintain operations. We are closely monitoring the situation and re-evaluating our safety procedures daily.
