Key Staff

Gerry Liu

Dr. Gerry Liu has taken on the role of Acting President of the River of Life Foundation, bringing a wealth of leadership experience and strategic insight. A global executive with a proven track record in wireless communications, mobile computing, and networking solutions, Dr. Liu has successfully scaled businesses to over $1 billion in annual sales and led transformative partnerships with tier-1 enterprise, retail, and home security companies.

Known for his passion for developing leaders and building high-performing teams across regions, Dr. Liu is also recognized for his ability to turn competitors into collaborators through innovative programs. In his interim role, Dr. Liu is dedicated to furthering the Foundation's mission, applying his expertise to inspire growth, foster partnerships, and drive meaningful impact in the community.

David Sun

David Sun, the Vice President of the River of Life Foundation, has been a dedicated member of ROLCC for 30 years.  Throughout his time here, he has served as a cell group leader, zone pastor, and Sunday school teacher for both children and adults. He has also contributed his expertise to the building committee and recently served as Chairman of the Executive Board. 

David is also a seasoned enterprise software consultant with more than 30 years of experience at Silicon Valley icons, including Oracle, Netscape, and Cisco.  Family is central to his life; he is married to Charline, and they have a daughter and a son.

In his role at the ROLF, David will work alongside President Gerry to ensure ROLF continues to operate smoothly, cohesively and creatively. Together, we aim to strengthen our mission as a channel of God’s love and a beacon of hope, both within our local community and abroad.

Ruth Chon

Ruth Chon has been serving as the Executive Director of the River of Life Foundation (ROLF) and the Director of Comprehensive Care for Orphaned Children in Africa. Under her leadership, ROLF has provided holistic care since 2007—including education, housing, food, medical aid, clothing, and personalized attention—to over 350 orphaned children across seven countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo. Her commitment extends beyond basic needs, focusing on empowering children with extended learning and sustainable skills. In 2024, she initiated nutritional supplement programs for children and expectant mothers in Togo and led fundraising efforts for renovating the Togo Children's Home.

Lorita Teng

Lorita Teng, Director of Operation Care at the River of Life Foundation (ROLF), combines visionary leadership with a heartfelt commitment to serving others. Her exceptional expertise in resource management and her passion for building strong communities have transformed Operation Care into a cornerstone of support for families in need.

Operation Care has currently forged partnerships with over 50 organizations, delivering essential goods to 50,000+ families across multiple countries worldwide. Lorita's ability to build meaningful relationships and her dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion have expanded the foundation’s impact, ensuring that every community served feels seen, supported, and uplifted. Through her compassionate and inclusive approach, she exemplifies how transformative leadership can create meaningful, lasting change and empower communities across the globe.

Boon Tan

Boon Tan has been a dedicated member of the River of Life Foundation (ROLF) for over four years, contributing actively to children’s educational programs and the food pantry.
As a long-standing member of the River of Life Christian Church, Boon has faithfully served as a cell group leader and lead usher for many years.
Professionally, Boon has spent an entire career in the high-tech industry.  As a seasoned manager with years of experience leading teams and projects.
Boon’s passion for service, combined with a professional background in technology and management, positions him uniquely to contribute valuable insights and strategic direction to ROLF.

Meilan Chan

Meilan Chan, as the General Manager of our Food Pantry, has been integral to the ROLF’s Food Pantry since its inception in 2007. As the General Manager of Food Pantry, she fosters a close-knit, family-like environment that encourages volunteer dedication. She collaborates with the IT team to enhance the check-in process and with the marketing team to engage stakeholders, ensuring the Food Pantry's sustainability. Over the years, the Food Pantry grew from serving 200 families to an impressive 10,000 families, becoming the largest in Northern California. The food pantry’s joint efforts has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Best of 2023 Food Bank in Santa Clara and the Rising Star Award from Moonstar Charitable Organization.

Board of Trustees

Yao-Chung Hsu

Yao-Chung Hsu has served as a ROLF Board member since 2022 and is currently the ROLF Fundraising Chairperson. Passionate about serving the poor and people in need, he has participated in numerous humanitarian missions both locally and overseas, aiming to spread love, hope, and provide practical assistance. His efforts include visiting orphans and handicapped children in China, serving at Syrian refugee camps in Egypt, and helping inner-city youths in Oakland.

 
 

Vivian Yeh

Vivian Yeh has been the Treasurer for the Board of the ROLF since 2023. She brings extensive experience to her role, currently serving as the Director of General Services at Nuvoton Technology Corp. America. In this role, Vivian oversees human resources, administration, accounting/finance, IT, and sales operations. Her duties include directing HR activities, developing administrative policies, managing financial reports and budgets, overseeing daily IT operations, and supporting sales initiatives. Vivian's broad expertise and dedication make her an indispensable member of ROLF.

Chih-Wei Chao

Chih-Wei Chao has been a dedicated member of the Board of the ROLF since 2007 and currently serves as the Chair of the Board. He has a history of leadership, having also served as Chairman of the Board from 2022 to 2023. In 2019, he took a sabbatical from ROLF to lead the River of Life BFDC (Building Facility Development Committee) as chairperson, a role he continues to hold today. Professionally, Chih-Wei boasts over 30 years of experience in software development, specializing in networking and enterprise security. He co-founded Prismo Systems and served as CTO from 2015 to 2022, and he currently holds the position of Senior Principal Software Engineer at Devo Technology, where he continues to innovate in the field of security software. His career objective is to develop cutting-edge security products to safeguard institutional information systems from malicious attacks. Chih-Wei’s technical expertise, leadership, and dedication to security make him an invaluable asset to the ROLF board.

Daniel Wong

Daniel Wong previously served as a children’s Sunday school teacher, nurturing young minds in their faith. Currently, he serves as a church board member focusing on missions, a cell group leader, and an active member of the worship team, demonstrating his deep commitment to his church community. Professionally, Daniel works as a software engineer at Google, showcasing his expertise in technology and innovation. Together with his wife, Thanhtu, they have raised a loving family and are proud parents of two adult children, continuing to inspire those around them through their faith, leadership, and dedication.
