Californians have been under strict stay-at-home orders for nearly a month, the new covid19 pandemic has disrupted the US economic order, especially when a large number of covid19 patients have suddenly poured in, bringing a huge burden to the medical system. Under the condition, these doctors usually work almost 13-14 hours in shifts, and only 2-3 hours a day for taking a break or eating. Nobody envies a hospital worker in a pandemic, especially when doctors and nurses are facing a shortage of hospital beds and COVID-19 tests, and no vaccine.

At the same time that the medical staff were greatly affected, as the coronavirus has spread across the world, collateral damage has been far and wide, with the restaurant industry sustaining one of the heaviest blows. After the pandemic started, restaurants are tough businesses to operate. The restaurant business industry is undoubtedly the hardest hit area. Many local restaurant industries have collapsed, and some have been closed down, and it is even more difficult for medical staff to find food to eat after work. “I believe there is a way to help both these groups during COVID-19,” said Sam Loh, President of River of Life Foundation.

Meals with Love project

The purpose of River of life foundation is to ignite a local and global effort to bring hope for an actionable future by addressing the basic necessities of humanity, to bring real transformation to lives and communities. When the covid19 pandemic started, River of Life Foundation immediately had a meeting to discuss contingency measures and tried to take care of the entire Bay Area community of medical staff and communities. Sam Loh, President of the Life River Foundation, decided to urgently implement another "Meals With Love" project. This project is planted by three full-time mothers Cindy, Jade and Shui Shui in Silicon Valley. Due to a passion to give back to the Bay Area community, they want to support our frontline workers, they launched the project- "Meals With Love". After a couple of dry runs and a tweet for donors, the project ended up expanding to 13 hospitals and raising 5,000 loving meals in two months. The meals have been delivered to the ICU, ER and Urgent Care in the Silicon Valley Bay Area.
